PRESS RELEASE FROM THE DASH TEAM:

Details around the event
*2017 Was the biggest rescue so far with unpredictable wind, 97 participants didn’t complete the race due to the strong winds and choppy waves
*The wind indication at 15h00 showed 29 Knots at Port control instrumentation
Every Marker Boat, Rescue Boat or Sweeper boat gave their best, and limb out in
40 Knots wind until all competitors were safe.
*2nd time for SUP and 1ste for Surfski.
*first women to finish and the first local resident Sjoeke Bredenkamp
Over the last thirty one years funds raised through entry fees have been donated to the NSRI and from 2004 local Hospice both of which charities rely on donations for the work they do in the community, and have benefited substantially from the Dash. We have added Animal Care this year.
The support of our sponsors is much appreciated and we hope that we will continue to run the event to the benefit of participants and the local community.
Thank you for all your efforts in making this event a reality.
